The threat posed to the Southern Right Whale by Southern Launch’s rocket launching operations was highlighted by the Eyre Peninsula EPA on the steps of parliament this morning. The SRW was also featured in the group’s theatrical dramatisation as seen in the accompanying video.
So great to hear Tammy Franks (Greens MLC) give a powerful speech in support of saving Whalers Way. She says because Southern Launch’s development plans were fast-tracked under a ’major project status’, the decision to give Southern Launch’s operations the go ahead was made by the wrong people.
Tammy is hoping to hit the “pause” button on Southern Launch’s operations tomorrow , when she moves a motion in parliament to establish an inquiry into the decision-making process and impact of approval of the Whalers Way Orbital Launch Complex.
